From a frontend brief to nine years of work.

Theta Lake already had experienced leadership, AI expertise, backend development underway, and a clear understanding of the compliance problem.

It needed a frontend team that could translate that depth into a reliable product experience and collaborate closely with the rest of an early distributed team.

Bixlabs joined with a focused assignment: build the application’s frontend in Angular.

Early in the engagement, Theta Lake CTO Rich Sutton traveled to Uruguay to work alongside Bixlabs.

Together, the teams established the operating rhythm the product needed: sprints, Jira workflows, testing practices, technical reviews, and clear routines for remote collaboration.

This shared system made decisions visible, kept delivery predictable, and gave both teams a common way to improve the product.

Bixlabs first took responsibility for the frontend. As the team delivered consistently and the platform grew, the work expanded into backend development, QA, infrastructure, database design, continuous delivery, and architecture.

Joseph, then a Bixlabs tech lead and now its CTO, worked closely with Rich and the wider Theta Lake team to evaluate trade-offs and design solutions.

Bixlabs engineers implemented decisions, and they were also trusted to question assumptions, recommend better approaches, and help shape the technical path.

There was no single breakthrough that transformed the relationship. Trust grew through the same pattern repeated over time: understand what mattered, meet commitments, solve difficult problems, and bring a point of view when the obvious route was not the right one.

That consistency supported faster delivery, stronger testing, and greater stability while allowing Theta Lake to grow without rebuilding the working relationship each time.

Today, five Bixlabs team members contribute across frontend, backend, and QA.

The team remains involved in critical technical work, including complex data infrastructure and database design alongside Rich. Ideas proposed by Bixlabs engineers during collaborative hackathons have also become production features.

The relationship is maintained deliberately through regular partnership reviews, close day-to-day collaboration, and in-person team gatherings.

The initial MVP launched on time and within budget. Since then, Theta Lake’s platform, team, and technical challenges have grown, and Bixlabs’ role has grown with them.

The strongest result is not one release or funding milestone. It is the sustained expansion of trust: from a focused Angular assignment to an embedded engineering partnership across critical parts of the product.
